Offline Google maps now Available for Android (Demo on Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Ace)

Recently Google has updated the Google Maps Application to Version 6.9.0 and brought offline Google maps to your Android mobile. We have demoed it Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 and Galaxy Ace S5830. Using offline maps is very convenient and you can avoid problems due to internet coverage drop while traveling. First of all you need to make sure that you are running on Google Maps Application V6.9.0 or higher. If not please update your Google Maps APK via Google Play.

Open Google Maps and now you have two options to download offline Maps

Option 1 -
  • Drag to the nearby point for which you want to download the map
  • Click on left menu button and click on "Make Available Offline"
  • Zoom in or Zoom out the are inside box to download map of that area and click on Done to Download
    (if your map is too large, Google Maps will show you message to Zoomin to reduce the size of maps)
Option 2 -
  • In Google Maps App click on the left top drop down and select My Places
  • Click on OFFLINE TAB
  • Click on New Offline Map to add a new MAP
  • Enter the city or region for which you want to download
  • Zoom in or Zoom out as per your requirement.
  • Click on Done.
How to access your downloaded Google Maps
  • In Google Maps App click on the left top drop down and select My Places
  • Click on OFFLINE TAB
  • App will display the list of downloaded maps

    2. Nokia is the best for offline maps. My old C7 had the entire world (10GB worth) and I never needed internet connection. Shame about the op system on it though

    3. I have tried the method above for downloading a offline map thru my phone (AT&T galaxy S III), but it is hung up forever and showing up as "queued for download", but never does download.

      anyone else have the same problem?
