How to install CM9 CyanogenMod9 on Galaxy S3 I9300

CyanogenMod is a free community based custom ROM which is probably the most famous custom ROM for any Android phone. CM9 is based on Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich (ICS). CM9 provides you variety of option on your Android phone including several tweaks and performance enhancement. This article will give you a step by step guide along with the video tutorial to install CyanogenMod 9 on Samsung Galaxy S3(SIII) I9300.
This is a nightly build of CM9 so you may experience few bugs. Please report them in XDA thread given at the end of the blog post.

Prerequisites

  • Your Galaxy S3 should be rooted with CWM installed on your phone. If your phone is not rooted then visit this page
  • Download Latest Build of CM9 from CyanogenMod Website (We have used cm-9-20120621-NIGHTLY-i9300.zip)
  • Download Gapps Zip from this link  ( we have used gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip)
  • Copy both the files on your internal phone SD card
CM9 Installation procedure on Galaxy S3
  • Switch off your Galaxy S3 completely
  • Goto CWM recovery mode by pressing VOl up+Home+Power button
  • Click on Wipe Data/Factory Reset >> Yes to confirm
  • Click on Wipe Cache Partition >> Yes to Confirm
  • Click on Install Zip from sdcard
  • Now Select cm-9-20120621-NIGHTLY-i9300.zip and click yes to confirm
  • Click on Install Zip from sdcard
  • Now Select gapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip and click yes to confirm
  • Now go to Main Menu and Reboot System Now
Your phone will reboot in CM9 now..
