Miracast – stream your Android device with ease

Mirroring or streaming is not new. There are numerous applications and devices that support mirroring and streaming. Chromecast from Google came very close to offering this feature. We also have AllShare feature in Samsung’s latest smart devices.Today, we will explore one more feature that is worth considering – Miracast.
Miracast uses Wifi Direct, a technology very new to the networking world. What Miracast does is simply amazing – mirror your Android device on any compatible Miracast-ready device. It can be your TV, Laptop or even Tablet. The best part about it is you don’t lose the quality of the content midway. Also, because you use your own Wifi, you end up mirroring and streaming everything for free. So view everything in 1080p and 5.1 surround sound audio.

If your device runs on Android 4.2 and above, Miracast comes by default. Simply look for ‘’Wireless Display’’ feature in your device’s display setting screen. On the receiver side, many TV manufactures are already making their product Miracast-ready. Else, there are many dongles that enable Miracast in your TV.

The pairing seems quite simple too. Simply turn on the wireless feature in your Android device. Now turn on the receiver side as well. Allow the pairing to happen. That’s it. Your device is now ready to mirror content wirelessly and effortlessly. Watch HD movies, play games or simply scroll through that camera roll to see your last holiday pics on the bigger screen. All you need to remember is your Android device has enough juice at all times, else, when the device goes off, the tele goes blank too.
Overall, we feel Miracast has all it takes in the world of streaming content. But, it may take a little longer before this feature catches up and becomes available on various devices. So what are you waiting for? Go-ahead and start streaming and let the devices do the talking.
